Our History

Destiny Church was founded in 1977 as the Caboolture AOG Church by Pastor Nev. Neilson & his brother. They later requested Northside Christian Family to assist in the work and Graham Corney who was a Solicitor, Elder & Administrator at Northside was appointed to assist where needed. In 1979 Northside purchased 10 acres of land in Caboolture where the present Church is located. It was about 1979 when Pastor Terry Peterson was appointed the Senior Pastor & financially supported by Northside.

Over the following years the Caboolture Church grew and repaid the land cost back to Northside. In 1989 Pastor Michael & Karen Mackerell were appointed as Senior Pastors. The church continued to thrive under their leadership seeing many come to faith and genuine Christian community strengthened through the establishment of small groups (originally called “cells”). Touched by God’s heart for the nations the Church has sent out and supported many missionaries to Europe, Central Asia, Asia and Australian Indigenous Communities. During the 90’s the Church embarked on a debt-free building program which saw the existing building gradually erected and eventually opened in 2003.

In 2000 the church took the new name of “Caboolture Christian Church”. Then, in 2011, after a season of God visiting His church in a fresh and powerful way, the church adopted its current name “Destiny Church”. This name reflects the way in which we see God unleashing people into their future with hope. In 2015 leadership of the local church was handed over to Greg Coleman. Greg and Robby brought a real focus on the presence of God being paramount to all the church did.

In 2019 Destiny Church embarked on a nationwide search for new senior pastors. Ps Shaun and Amelia Hunter, previously campus pastors at Enjoy Church Ballarat Victoria were appointed to this position in February 2019 to lead the church into a new season.

Destiny Church is a member of the Australian Christian Churches (ACC, formally known as AOG) which currently has over 1,000 churches in Australia. All our Pastors are ordained through this movement.
